As an armed security guard myself, pulling my weapon is an absolute last resort. Too many guards forget we are not law enforcement we have no immunity. Stuff like this is never that serious, this is when you observe and report let PD deal with it.

That’s crazy. I’ve always heard that those self-defense insurance companies are always scammed. They always find a way to not represent you but sure in the hell do take your money every month.

I work as an armed security officer at QuikTrip. When I see people stealing items like food or drinks, I sometimes stop them, and in some cases, I even pay for the items myself because I feel they might be in need. Other times, I speak to them calmly and respectfully. It doesn’t matter whether the person is good or bad—I just explain to them that what they’re doing is wrong. And if they come back and repeat the same behavior, I call the police.

I do Armed Security in ABQ. It’s dangerous but you really gotta let people be, unless they threaten your life. It’s tough.

Companies that hire armed set should have their own lawyers to represent their employees in case of a shooting. Why should a worker need to buy his own insurance. It's like paying for your own workers comp coverage when it's their responsibility. The security business needs to be regulated more.
