I understand that the Freedom Tower means a great deal to Cubans, and I understand the history it represents. However, I also believe it is selfish for some Cubans not to appreciate something that holds such great significance. First of all, he is the President of the United States. Secondly, although many Cubans are U.S. citizens born right here in Florida, their families emigrated to the United States. Therefore, they should respect and understand that a U.S. President's decision to build his presidential library is part of his legacy and his right. They should feel honored and respect the U.S. President's decision to do what he deems appropriate. He has worked hard and accomplished many things that other presidents have not. The fact that some people disagree with his decisions or do not get what they want does not mean the library he is building should not be respected and valued. The Freedom Tower holds immense significance for Cubans and that must be respected but it is also possible to acknowledge and respect the importance of a presidential library and the legacy of a U.S. President.
