Appalachian born and raised here. yes, the rules exist for a reason. I'm guilty of whistling at night to call my dog because she is stubborn. I have heard whistling in my woods, and I just yelled nope, not today. just walk calmly, don't panic, that makes it worse

I’m from the Pine ridge Rez and once I was laying down around midnight with my cat. I heard something at my bedroom door opening it it was a perfect repluca of my very rare multi toed cat down to his weird color of eyes. My cat laying next to me puffed up hissing and spitting at it and he is not a fighter at all. I instructed the cat at the door to leave and they were not welcome there it turned and calmly walked out. I didn’t sleep the rest of the night. My cat never slept apart from me after that night untill his death. Slept curled around my head every night untill he passed in February. It was years ago but I think abt it often

I lived in the Appalachian mountains for over 6 years…never saw the creatures but have felt the eerie silence early in the mornings… HOWEVER, I did experience many, many demonic (bc I don’t believe in ghosts, they are demons) situations where I woke up in the middle of the night and her choral music, had waking nightmares of demons in my house, often heard and SAW demonic activity. All inside my house, not outside. My house had been built by my husband’s great uncle
