Couldn’t agree more, my mums changed, grief, tears, loss but there is an emptiness that is hard to see for me

the most painful part for me is seeing my mom fall in love with someone just months after my papa died (they were married for 26 years and had five kids) i still can’t understand how it seemed so easy for her to love someone new when she was the one beside my papa in the hospital, holding him as he took his last breath. now she keeps saying, “when you meet someone, you’ll forget everything about the past.” that made me question marriage and love altogether, and even made me question her love for my father. i’m so angry about her decision, and right now, i no longer want to be associated with her.

I lost my dad 4 months ago and I completely relate and agree. I think my heart won’t ever recover from witnessing trying to carry on without her life partner married for 51 years 🥺

Me and my sisters actually talked about this after our dad passed in November and my little sister said it best. We didn’t choose who our dad was (we would always choose him if we could tho, he was the literal best), but our mom CHOSE him, every time. Through everything, they kept choosing each other. For 40 years. That’s a whole other level of love and I couldn’t imagine losing that.

I lost my dad unexpectedly on Christmas Eve, they had been together for 35 years. My mom depended on my dad for everything, she doesn’t drive, know how to pay bills, or even have a steady job. It’s been so hard trying to grieve but also take care of her and make sure she’ll be okay

Omg this. Mama and daddy would have been married 55 years- she lost him 38 days before (and 7 days before Christmas). Their anniversary is 1/10 and daddy’s birthday was 1/14. This is our fist year without him that we can actually process it. Last year I think we were numb.
