@addictedtotools: Let’s try to start a new series where I can shoutout all the good tradesman and companies that look after their apprentices. That are willing to spend the time to teach and do what’s expected and more. I might even try to come out and interview these people if you’re willing.

Started a commercial Fridgy apprenticeship 6 months ago as a mature age, left last week as I wasn’t been paid properly for my overtime. Just started a sparky apprenticeship with a dude as his first apprentice and he is wicked. Always making sure we’re drinking water, buying us gatorades and making us take our 30 min lunches so we get a break. Legend

I feel like most people always think of the bad things and not the good but down the road ppl including myself look back at how much they learnt. Even if wasn’t easy to deal with

First company treated me like a number, made the jump as a 4th year to a different company, learnt more in a few months than I did in 3 years. Still a tradesman at the same company and wouldn’t change a thing

Being a sparky + apprentice shaped my future for the better, a good crew, challenges and a supportive culture made me who I am

Boss is fair but a tight ass and tough as nails. 2nd year Apprentice had his own tools stolen at work. Boss replaced 80% of his gear with mostly better quality brands the next day.

I’ve had both ends of the stick in my apprenticeship. I had one tradesman who I couldn’t say a good thing about and almost made me a stop my apprenticeship. However I had another boss during my apprenticeship who was genuinely the best boss/bloke I’ve met genuinely helped me out paid my tafe courses that my previous employer didn’t pay. When I finished my apprenticeship I bought him a $300 bottle of scotch and was upset when having to leave the company

Finished my apprenticeship mid year and was working for a very average company and changed after being qualified to a new company and best decision I’ve made the boys all have such good attitudes which changes the whole mood on site and the boss is a very positive and appreciative person. Have brought 2 apprentices and a tradesmen over because of it. Boss hasn’t had to use seek in 15 years of owning his company he reckons because all the boys trade mates come and stay and they’ve all been there for years and years

if my employer won't sign me off 9 months early after all tafe is it a dog act to transfer to another company that will sign me off straight away?

Started my tiling apprenticeship about a year ago now and I have the best boss ever swear even when I first stared and had no license he’d come drive across town to pick me up for work, never once yelled/raised his voice at me buys me lunches every single day and when we’re working away from home he’s still buying me lunch, washing my clothes and I don’t have to pay a cent and it’s really easy to just have a chat with him and laugh on site since It’s just the 2 of us… if u share this story tag me in it
