Those of you shouting “gloves,” did you actually see her handling anything contaminated? In proper care practice, gloves are not required for routine personal care unless there is a known risk, such as a skin infection or any condition outlined in the client’s care plan. Gloves are for managing clinical risk, not for carrying out everyday tasks that uphold a person’s dignity. You would not wear gloves to care for your own family members doing the same basic activities, so why treat clients in a way that makes them feel less human? Good care is about safety and dignity working hand in hand. Not everything requires gloves, and trained caregivers understand the difference. This job is more than a paycheck. If you lack empathy, sympathy, and compassion, you should not be in this field at all. Well done 'poster', for giving love, peace and dignity to one of the vulnerable people in our society...our elderly people deserves the BEST!
