@joan_kun: Please Don’t Be That Tourist – Part 8 ❌ 4 – Don’t disrespect religious places in any way
These sites are sacred spaces, not props. Touching, climbing, or leaning on religious structures is considered deeply disrespectful to the culture and the people who maintain them.
✅ Instead: Observe quietly, follow local customs, and take photos without touching or disturbing the sacred architecture. ❌ 3 – Don’t misbehave in touristic spots
These locations aren’t theme parks many are residential areas, cultural landmarks, or places with community significance. Acting recklessly can damage property, disturb locals, and create a bad experience for other visitors.
✅ Instead: Enjoy the spot respectfully, stay aware of your surroundings, and take photos or videos without causing inconvenience or damage. ❌ 2 – Don’t cross the yellow line at the train station
The yellow line is there for safety. Crossing it puts you and others at risk and disrupts the efficient flow of trains something Japan takes very seriously.
✅ Instead: Wait calmly behind the line until the train stops and the doors open. It’s safer for everyone and shows respect for local etiquette. ❌ 1 – Don’t run after geisha for pictures
Geiko and maiko are cultural artists on their way to appointments. Chasing them is intrusive, stressful, and reduces their ability to work safely and peacefully.
✅ Instead: Admire from a distance, and if you want a photo, take it respectfully without approaching, blocking, or interrupting them. 🙏 Small actions show big respect
By being mindful of your behavior, you help keep Japan beautiful and welcoming for everyone😊🙌✨ #japantraveltips #japantradition #lovejapan #japanovertourism

I have a question about how to properly ask a Geisha for a picture. I really don’t want to be disrespectful but I would like to take a picture with a geisha.

only reason I haven't walked behind the yellow line was because NO ONE was moving. Legit was saying "Sumimasen!" and no one moved. it was so crowded that my friend was stuck on the train when we were trying to get off

As for the torii, it's like training with Cross, which is placed in the church.
