So as someone in insurance..you should only be buying a dwelling/fire policy. And your mom and aunt should be buying the renters. One covers structure the other covers contents. (I know getting them to buy that would be pulling teeth)

In WA I pay about $5500 per year. I recently learned that in China >90% of their people own their homes. They have no homelessness and minimal renters. They have no property taxes and no home owners insurance. Once they pay it off, they have no more payments. I can’t even imagine.
