One time I was working at a book fair, and the mayor showed up and walked over to the booth. He shook my hand, and I greeted him normally and calmly without saying anything special. It seemed so strange to him that he said, “I’m the mayor of the city,” and I replied, “Yeah, I know.” You could see how disappointed he was by how calm I stayed 😂 I’m autistic.

I think it also adds up the fact that we as neurodivergent don’t like “fake” attitudes nor people. We appreciate being genuine so we don’t get stuck in that hierarchy
