When I did my genealogy, I noticed that we didn’t start looking black until like the 1920s, but before that we were straddling into the line between indigenous and Spanish, and in Spanish, had the African ad mixture in it, I believe it

Yup. Racial segregation didn’t occur in America until around the mid 1700s, so people mixed with the folks in their social class. They also kidnapped people from the Americas and dropped them in different parts of the colonies. So yea when Black Americans say we aren’t African, we know what we talking about.

I knew my % was a lie because my grandfather, born in the early 1920's, his father was a whole, WHOLE Scottish person. There are no know Africans in my family and we can call our ancestors by name back into the 1800s without pulling a single court record. It's not statistically possible.

pop off queen 🔥🔥 I did a lot of digging around with my dna on GEDMATCH and definitively found my indigenous ancestors, and two separate contributions as well which makes sense for my lineage (Black American and Caribbean) one with a higher instance of ANE markers in a specific chromsome and another without ANE markers which I interpret as Caribbean and South American Indian dna

What do we do with the knowledge? I was curious what are the next steps for your research. Like does another scholar have to run your model for it to be adopted? What are we to do with the results beyond TikTok? Are there legal steps that will be pursued? Does this give us access to something? Or is this for personal information?
