@florencethedietitian: This is one of the most common questions I get asked in clinic… “Should I go for full fat or 0% dairy?” 🤔 So let’s clear it up shall we? Full fat is not automatically better and low fat is not automatically worse. They simply behave differently in the body. When the fat is removed, you still keep around 95% of the vitamins and minerals apart from some fat soluble ones. So you are NOT losing the calcium or most of the micronutrients. Women living with PCOS or acne sometimes do better with full fat dairy. For fertility, full fat dairy can play a supportive role and some research suggests regular dairy intake may help slow the natural decline in AMH (our egg reserve marker). Women in menopause or those working on weight loss often do better with low fat because the energy density is reduced and the calcium content is the same. 🙌 The real takeaway: Choose the version that suits your hormones, your skin, your appetite and your goals!
