My husband is a very soft, sweet soul, but his parents are narcissists. He never received love from them, only praise for accomplishments done directly for their benefit, and punishment for anything that didn't serve them. They taught him and forced him to perform. That's all he knows how to do: perform. He has no idea how to be real. 😭
