I picked up Severance on March 2020 on my last day in nyc as the uni dorms were closing and I had to fly home… felt too relatable

If you haven’t read The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell, run to the bookshop!! It’s a devastating scifi novel. I couldn’t stop thinking about this book for weeks after reading. It deals with colonization, religion, belief, and is uncompromising in its use of dread. It’s also hauntingly beautiful in its writing.

Like three scrolls up some creator has his list of "criminally underrated" scifi. All were mainstream and well-known... I didn't know a single one of yours. So, thank you!

Bulgakov was fantastic. I studied Russian philology so we read an awful lot of Russian authors, it's such a shame this literature isn't more trendy.
I also just finished The Lathe of Heaven! Like, two days ago. I never heard of it before, and also, accidentally, this was my first LeGuin 😁❤ I don't regret it. Brilliantly constructed and executed. Deeper than I expected.

Have you read Ling Ling Huang’s novels? Natural Beauty and Immaculate Conception ? I loved her debut novel. She blends literary fiction with Sci-fi dystopia and sprinkles in social commentary, satire, and unhinged storytelling. 😳
