We’re also extremely underpaid. Most administration have no clue just how important the job role is. This is the most mentally and physically demanding job I have ever worked and I make the least I ever have. I just love my doctors.

One of my docs literally told another they were not hiring this new doc bc he had heard he was mean to his scrubs. And he stood on business. He said, “without you girls we wouldn’t be doing what we are” and I love him even more now. So me and my girls we are appreciated and it’s nice to see

👏🏻👏🏻 Most don’t realize we know that surgery just as well as the doctor. Step by step. What we’ll need if shit hits the fan. I’m a cardiac, thoracic, vascular girl. I can anticipate what my docs need before they know they need it. We have the coolest unknown profession ever. I just wish we were appreciated more.. money wise lol

I'm a scrub tech of 32 years. I have scrubbed everything that there is. I love what I do, but you are right, we are overlooked, under appreciated, and under paid. I do pretty well now, but it took a lot to get to where I am.

Being a Surg tech student, going into clinicals, it becomes very hard being criticized by people who have been doing it for years or decades. Constructive criticism is completely different, normal teachable feedback is different than being berated. I did a BKA and had never considered how many steps go into it, and how many people are involved. I was in CV for majority of my clinicals, and maintaining the sterile field is a lot when you have 15 different people in the room at once all trying to accomplish the same thing; keeping the patient alive.

In Greece there’s no such thing as scrub tech. What I mean is that a registered nurse does this job!
