Anthropology should be a module in every programme of studies! The effects of not knowing the ‘anthropos” are devastating for the Society!

Nothing :
Anthropology, by emphasizing the qualitative over the quantitative and the method of participant-observation, gets at what it feels like and what it is to be a human being in another time and place, and in that process of looking deeply at someone else’s experience encourages you to hold up a critical mirror to look deeply into your own culture and society - at what it is to be a human being in your own time and place. There are so many ways in the world to be a human being, to make sense of gender, kinship, hierarchy, identity, love etc. All too often, those new to anthropology treat what we do as if all that we are doing is compiling lists of odd customs and bizarre practices (exotica mongering) but when done right anthropology is an exploration of the complexities of the human species and an on-going assertion that if you’re unhappy or dissatisfied with how you’re living that there are probably already models for better living out there. (For a model that’s accessible to the public, I’d recommend a series that was originally aired, on PBS in the U.S., as the 20th century became the 21st, called MILLENIUM: TRIBAL WISDOM AND THE MODERN WORLD by anthropologist David Maybury-Lewis.)

I feel like you emphasize the importance of anthropology more than emphasizing the milestones that anthropology has achieved and contributed to human civilization and society.

But for me it also interesting what people to be like others to mimetize others. How originality change to product, the most favourite songs to ads. And what it means with others now when I can't recognize who is real and what is AI. That's anthropology interesting for me.

So true. Our tribes are no longer familial or even geographic. We're connecting with different people in different places that we share interests and ideologies with, often far more than those who surround us. Community is global and algorithmic. Lead on. We need all the help we can get 😎

You have a unique opportunity here, John, but you keep circling around it instead of getting to it. Don’t *tell* us how valuable anthropology is—show us. Through examples. Through stories. Little anecdotes that provide a window to insight. Bring it to life. THAT will light the candle. Your premise is precisely correct—an anthropological approach is exactly what’s needed, but people need to know what it really IS before they’ll buy in. I know you’re pi—ed off as heck at what’s happening around you (and *to* you) but you *know* this. My advice? Take a breath, recenter yourself in this comfortable role you play, and PLAY IT! At this moment you’re the free-est you’ll ever be to with no board breathing down your neck. Anthropology is amazing. Come show us why you fell in love with it.
