just got one for my son for Xmas. you pay monthly now for it to work. there's a way to do it for free but it means for it to work you need a computer constantly running

You can update him and reconnect him to the server. Digital Dream Labs bought the tech and still offers some support for the original Vectors. I got mine setup again in September.
