@wheredidbecsgo: All the tests I’ve had to get my diagnosis and the process to acquire MAID for persons with Alzheimer’s #terminal #maid #dying #dementia #alzheimers
if you don't mind me asking, what symptoms showed up first ? I honestly am having a hard time forming sentences and remembering daily words . I'm trying to blame it on perimenopause, but sometimes It frightens me how I all of a sudden am having this issue . TIA

Do you have to do Maid while you are still cognitively aware? What happens if you wait too long?

My husband has young onset Alzheimer’s and now has mixed dementia with Lewy Body. He is now in long term care and he looks nothing like the other residents so I know exactly what you mean. The stigma is overwhelming

A dear friend of my recently diagnosed with a brain disorder chose MAID. I said my god byes Tuesday and he was gone that day. A sad reality for some, but he choose not to witness his brilliant mind fade to nothing, he was my mentor and friend. Held a masters of education from Harvard but had so much humility , a true role model.

I’m in Canada and have experience with 5 relatives choosing MAID. For each it was peaceful, respectful, dignified. They chose who would be present, where it would happen, if they wanted a religious service or not, any music etc. Each left on their own terms, making all decisions for themselves. So when the time comes for you, I wish you peaceful journey. ❤️

Damn. Nothing makes it more real than an actual date. I mean, even being able to push it back is still scary

I just watched the documentary about Robin Williams. I’ve cared for 3 people in my home the past 13 yrs with dementia so it seems crazy to me they didn’t diagnose him with Lewy body until after he’d passed.😞
