Luke :
If you time certain tragedies right like this one, killing blaidd, the reveal of rya being a snake person as well as the entire horrifying existence of rykard, Morgott’s reveal as king of a land who scorns him coupled with the fate he and all omens suffered in the shunning grounds, yura’s death and the subsequent body snatching from shabriri, irina realizing she’s eating eyes, thopps’s death, Boggart’s death, fia’s death and the discovery of the fate of the merchants, I think a pretty compelling case for a mentally broken tarnished to embrace the frenzied flame reveals itself. Especially bc it protects Melina. That is unless you’re also following Millicent’s quest line, as she shows you the power of sheer determination and goodwill. A woman brought up in hell, rotting from the inside, continues to persist to find her mother, standing tall in the face of her own death to embody the pride her mother lost all those years ago. It’s poetic that her quest concludes with you defeating malenia, one of the only character who could fend off an outer god, and gaining access to the only item that can free you from the full grasp of the frenzied flame. Your journey has taught you the skills to fend off the will of an outer god, and given you the power to repel it. This is all head cannon but one thing I love abt Elden Ring is how it gives you so much room to tell your own story with the many characters you encounter.
