When gps says turn left in 600 feet, I never turn at the right spot. However, once I go somewhere once, I can always get there with no direction.

I liken navigation skills to Sherlock not knowing the Earth goes around the Sun. Given we have GPS available at all times, it's just not a needed skill in my day to day existence, therefore I've discarded it.
