MELANIN IS NOT A MORAL RECORD. JUDGE ME BY MY VALUES. In Kenya 🇰🇪 , I have repeatedly experienced being labelled by skin colour before people engage with what I say, do or stand for. What gets lost in that conversation? Honesty. Compassion. Fairness. Accountability. Whether someone’s actions match their words. That stereotyping harms Kenyans too. It can encourage people to mistake shared skin colour for shared interests - and overlook solidarity from someone who looks different. The people who conned me for $300k+ in shares & cash all are proud they sent their aduct children to live in Europe or US, and they abuse the Kenyan system cruelly. They are well connected: dennis volemi (C level largest bank 🇰🇪 KCBank), charles kerich (CEC Nairobi County, directly responsible for most money flow in 🇰🇪 ) and thomas joseph omondi ogutu (says uhuru is like an uncle to him). Someone who looks like you can exploit you. Someone who looks different can stand beside you. Appearance cannot settle which person deserves your trust. Calling someone a “colonizer” solely because they are have a different skin color assigns guilt by appearance. Colonialism and its continuing consequences deserve serious scrutiny. So do present-day exploitation and abuses of power. Those arguments require evidence about conduct, institutions and ownership. Challenge my actions. Challenge my arguments. Show the evidence. The biology is clear: skin pigmentation evolved largely through adaptation to ultraviolet radiation. Human ancestry and genetic variation are real; familiar racial categories do not divide humanity into separate biological types. Skin colour cannot establish moral superiority or inferiority. Modern racial hierarchies developed over centuries alongside European colonial expansion and slavery. They transformed visible differences into supposed rankings of human worth, helping justify dispossession, exploitation and unequal rights. A study of 1,056 people from 52 populations found that 93–95% of the genetic variation it measured occurred WITHIN populations. This describes variation measured in that study - not a percentage of someone’s identity or abilities. Psychology helps explain the danger: experiments show that framing another group as a threat can increase cooperation within one’s own group. That makes racial scapegoating useful to manipulators: attention shifts toward an outsider and away from the behaviour of those exercising power. But division is not destiny. A meta-analysis of 515 studies found that contact between groups generally reduces prejudice. We can build solidarity across differences. And I refuse to stereotype Kenyans while challenging stereotypes. Afrobarometer’s 2024 survey of 2,400 Kenyan adults found 71% accepted immigrants or foreign workers as neighbours. That measures attitudes toward immigrants, not the prevalence of racial prejudice. “Mzungu” is not automatically an insult; context matters. The problem is using colour to presume someone’s character, guilt or inferiority. No skin color proves guilt. No skin colour excuses wrongdoing. Judge conduct. Follow evidence.
