I think a scientist would tell you that girls and boys present differently many times because of societal expectations. Girls are taught from a very young age that it is their responsibility to be aware of everything that is going on around them and to keep other people happy. That inattention may also be present in boys, but not as noticeable because boys are not expected to be the social glue and peacemaker. And since we do not have the same societal expectation of boys as we do of girls, these symptoms are overlooked or dismissed because of gender.
