Hey I’m actually Chinese and my family is from Hainan China. This type of chicken being served has always had bones and has been a staple for generations. This is normal in a lot of places that serve Hainan chicken. Didn’t know obvious bones were an issue for some many people lol thank you for the honest review and actually giving this kind of food a chance ❤️

Chicken with more bones is actually higher quality. My mom always go to the farm to get pastured raised chicken and they tend to be leaner which makes the ratio of bone to meat higher.

The reason why there’s a lot of bones is because traditionally Hainan Chicken is made with a “walking chicken” which is leaner. This type of chicken gives a chewier texture of meat than a regular broiler chicken. A lot of Asian cuisine prefer this type of chicken when cooking.

Thats ginger scallion, and normally the chicken is double the amount for that price. Thats why the real asians that eat this food rated it low. Its expensive and less meat

It’s ginger and scallion sauce. The Hainanese chicken has no seasoning and is about the silky texture and moisture and eaten with the sauce. Most authentic Chinese dishes will have bones, this isn’t your Panda Express. Also, the price is super low, specially for NYC.
