Shifting it to reverse does make a sound but it’s normal, yours sounds pretty loud though

I work at a Chrysler dealership and just had this issue with one today, jeep gladiator with 30k miles, the D clutch is what caused this issue. It’s also in relation to the P1DA8-00 code, Incorrect gear ratio clutch A, B, or D. Service says to replace clutch D

Man I’ve had the same noise for 30k miles already. Researched multiple forums and nothing. No matter on flat or inclined ground, warmed up or cold, still makes the noise. I’ve accepted it and dealerships say it’s normal. Until i finally put my phone(camera) under the jeep to see where the noise is coming from and it’s coming from the driveshaft/ transfer case area. Maybe it’s loose? Worn? I’ll fix it when something finally breaks lol

sounds like a bad joint in a drive shaft ,going from forward to reverse switches the load causing it to move . have someone look under neath as you do that

Got a 2020 that does that…I let it warm up for a few seconds, shift to drive first for a couple seconds, THEN shift to reverse and it is almost unnoticeable

I had that issue and changed the front and rear differential fluid. Stopped the popping sound for me! 2020 JLU

Been a problem for quite some time now. I was seeing that around 14-15 when the 8 speed came out in the GC. Glad to see the quality control & the countless warranty submits to QC to try this, this, and that. Oh, replace the valve body…. Continues to have the same problem. Ok, replace trans 🤦♂️

My 17 grand Cherokee has done this since we and my 21 Rubi does it also. They’re different sounds but do it when put into reverse.

Following. Mine has done that for a while now. Does it when I only go into reverse and when it’s cold outside mostly. I’ve never had it looked at but I do believe it’s the drive shaft. Going to replace it anyways when I do my 3.5-4” lift. Let us know what they tell you. Mines a 2015

I think it’s pretty normal for wrangles to have that clank.i have a 25 and it does it occasionally when shifting into drive or reverse.
