I think it’s good to read up on the history, but I don’t believe there is a “recipe” for working with a deity. I began practicing based on intuition when I was a child living in the holler. No internet access, no libraries with anything “occult”. Just me and my inner guides. I still practice this way, and get very frustrated when other people act like it’s not legitimate or “correct”.
