it's wild not to mention that veganism i empathy-based! most vegetarians and vegans do not eat meat/animal products because of the suffering of animals. empathy is really unpopular in a rise of conservative climate we're seeing now

I dont understand how people still think that veganism is time consuming and expensive when meat and dairy are the most expensive items in the grocery. And not having to defrost meat saves me so much time. Tofu, lentils, rice, beans, pasta and potatoes are so cheap. Frozen and canned fruit/veg are always an option available if you cant afford fresh.

the religious aspect of conservatism can't be left out of the conversation. some believe God gave man dominion over animals for their use. veganism is therefore against God and against nature. as conservatism is on the rise, so is this mindset.

the rise in people especially uni students shopping at m&s is interesting because it’s these small luxuries amidst this cost of living crisis that people are living for at the moment rather than spending on a big purchase that will break the bank

I recently saw a heart doctor explain how there’s been a crazy amount of over consumption of protein- like he’s been seeing a ton of young adults who are super fit needing heart transplants. And he basically said that you need to balance all that protein with more fiber. (Basically have a more balanced diet.) and he literally had SO MUCH LASHBACK
