@abbeyskitchen: 100% @Bryana nailed it. We’re taught to equate exercise and healthy eating with suffering and restriction, when the research shows that moderation and enjoyment is key for sustainability. So that means going swimming if you hate running, and including some garlic butter if it makes you eat your veggies. Once we reframe working out and nourishing foods as a form of self-care, it changes our entire mindset around our body. Comment below if you’ve experienced this mindset shift and what helped! #SelfCare #nourishtothrive #physicalactivity #mindsetshift #reframe
I also don’t diet, I cook my food at home. That includes my “unhealthy” foods. I make brownies and Cinnabons, but it makes a huge difference when made at home.

Yup! Once I changed my mindset from “I have to go to the gym” to “I get to go to the gym and get strong” I actually started enjoying it. And I listen to my body when I need too

It's the "all or nothing" mindset that really sets us up for failure.

It's a chore when you suffer from depression and everything but distracting yourself is a chore. I hope I can change that someday.

I’ve always loved the gym but struggled with consistency until I became a mom. It became my “me” time and I was able to focus on my strength and see what my body could do. Plus working out early gave me the energy to get through the morning before nap time. It also made me happier.

Watching this an hour before my ballet class. Exercising for fun changed my whole view on exercise

Yes, I recently started going to a dietitian and in some way I am eating more and losing weight. What I saw is that before I will eat once or twice sometimes barely anything but it would be a lot of calories anyway or will eat barely anything in these two meals but after some time on it will suddenly get so hungry and eat all day. It was hard to get myself hungry to actually eat 5 times a day at the start but my doctor said to try and just have a few bites still and not go completely without but now after over 2 months my body started getting hungry naturally.

It also is small every day changes. I have started buying whole wheat tortillas instead of flour tortillas and I made a delicious tortilla pizza for dinner last night and paired it with some fresh veggies. Like it was just a simple switch that made for a delicious and filling dinner

It IS a gift! I think we often forget what a gift having mobility, the ability to build stamina and actually be able to workout is. I never valued it until I got really sick w/ an EBV reactivation for yrs. Now I have no tolerance to exercise, I can barely stand up without nearly passing out and I wish I had had this mindset before

I think the biggest piece of advice I needed was not not change everything at once. One change at a time is way more manageable.

I'm definitely in a bad head space right now where every aspect of taking care of myself feels like work. I don't know how to get out of it. Perimenopause is not helping.

Yes! Exactly. It’s a mindset & a gift to be able to work out. This is what we’re promoting too!

The older I get I totally agree. I’m 47 I was a teenager in the 90’s we’ve all done the crazy diets! Now I work out with weights to keep my body fit and young, I eat to fuel my body with love. I have the odd ‘naughty’ treat but I eat healthy 95% of the time. Ps it’s not motivation it’s discipline

As someone with a mental illness, the mindset of “all or nothing.” Is very damaging. Taking care of oneself can be hard when you’re mind is constantly working against you. So telling myself that it’s okay that I don’t work out or do a full skin care routine everyday but only a couple of times a week did wonders. I feel much better and I can see positive changes.

Can’t believe I almost missed Hidden Health Codes by Zane Hale. It reads like a manual that slipped through the cracks, something designed for those who were never supposed to see behind the curtain.

It’s also totally okay to not workout or eat super super healthy every single day. We’re just people!!! We can just do what we want!!!
