@maisonrickie: The topics I want to talk about are topics I genuinely find interesting. I don’t want my message to be misconstrued as just “playing the game just to play the game”. Trust me, there are easier ways to go about “the game” than dedicating real time and money to learning golf, or spending months reading about art history. These topics are interesting to me and I don’t think only the rich should be able to experience and appreciate them. I want to at least expose you to these topics in a way that isn’t intimidating and is fun to consume. If you understand my message, please let me know in the comments, you guys have no idea how much your kind messages mean to me ❤️ the plans I have to take this page, believe me, you’re going to enjoy ☺️

Tbh it’s kinda a relief because the whole bootstrap mentality simply isn’t true. The system is designed to reward a certain few that I wasn’t born into so I’m just going to focus on enjoying my life as it is 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah but we've had Pierre Bourdieu writing since like the 70's, and it hasn't helped us mitigate the discrepancies of class in any real material way. I'd argue that the divide has only become wider in the last 50 years. And art and culture are definitely less accessible to the middle and lower classes. I think what you're saying in these videos is here are ways to play the game to try and social climb. But is that really the best solution?

the paradox of knowledge is the realisation that the more you knowledge you acquire helps you realise how much you actually don’t know

I almost don’t care. Honestly, has a philosophy major, I know these things won’t matter half as much at the very end. The only thing that will matter at the end is who loved you, and who thinks of you after you’re gone.

Class strain is real. I went to a school that made it very clear what advantage really is, and it was eye opening to me. It’s definitely not money. And it was hard to interface with.

Ngl I love your page and it more just reiterates my desire to never be a part of that world- it gives the air of when I was in high school & people wanted to be part of the “popular group” but all I saw was competition and they werent at all nice to each other. Id much rather be on the outside with people who love life rather than need to prove themselves constantly to fit in

From the little I've watched/read about how it all works - whenever something becomes accessible to the masses, the rich no longer find it worthy. They then find new ways of distincting themselves and excluding us commons. So just do what you love and like whatever you genuinely like, this is not worthy of chasing.

I like your direction with it but I think it would be nice to form our own cultural capital so no just copying elite tastes within those interests you feel me because we’re not them you know these discussions should be happening within the working class that appreciates aspects of higher class leisure life

Honestly it’s really interesting to learn his work through your lens, because it forces us to take a step back on the situation and just learn what we need to learn and not « pretend » we know everything

I think it's worth noting that these class structures are different in every country. Analyzing Finance with Nick on YouTube shares some realistic breakdowns of how class works in America vs Europe and other parts of the world.
