@sewingnapoleon: 👏 gilded age fashion but for everyday people👏 I was talking about this with an archivist the other day. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good ball gown and vintage couture is so beautiful. But the kind of fashion I resonate with is everyday clothing. Show me a nice outfit that a regular woman wore. This probably isn’t a grocery shopping outfit. This might be something that she wore to meet up with the girls. And I especially love fashion of women who live in the places I live. A gilded age woman who looked west to the Rocky Mountains and walked by the platt river. She jokes about how Denver is a two-horse town and makes fun of the Texans who move here. Unfortunately, we don’t know who wore this dress or who made it. I’m guessing early 1900s? It’s all silk with black pleated embellishment on the elbow and ivory lace on the collar. Lori says the lace is high end. The underskirt is metallic silver. This dress is a knockout.
