I believe you may want to recheck that. I work for a major time manufacturer in the US and they preach that the numbers on the doorjam are only for OEM tires.

Then why does the dealer fill the tires past what it says on the door label when I get my car serviced there? It’s their brand’s vehicle, they should know what it’s supposed to be at?

My usually trusted mechanic was overfilling my tires (while also not checking my spare) and I didn’t know until my sisters partner started working on my car and checked my pressures! Main 4 were way over what was needed for little civic, and the spare was basically flat, I’d have been stranded if I ever needed to use my spare! I think the shop staff has changed and I don’t trust them anymore 😩

you dont use a "similar" size you use the exact same size zero variations unless youre using the car for very specific applications such as drifting where fitting narrower tires or "stretched" tires can help the car slide better but with standard road applications you use the same size thats on the tire information label in your door jam
