My current theory is that “Satan” is mankind and the Earth through her natural cycles (procession of the equinox etc’) purges life to reset the chaos brought by mankind. We then start all over again (but brought back a little different genetically as the species) That could explain mud floods (ice age melting) fire destroyed architecture (Supervolcano aftermath effects)
