I used to live in the mountains. I've driven on the passes multiple times at over 10,000ft during and after snow storms. I agree. You can always tell when the road is wet, icy, etc. Sometimes there are literally just sparse random patches of black ice on a road thats otherwise clear. That's why on days when the temps are freezing, especially after a recent storm, no one should be speeding. I don't speed around for days after a storm because run off can refreeze onto the road. It's never invisible, people are just driving too fast to SEE IT. They think the roads have cleared up, when they actually haven't and they get too confident.
