@amieinchina: Camera down the throat (endoscopy) completed on Tuesday morning, in and out within 1 hour 15 minutes, really efficient, results immediately. This would have taken me months if not years on an NHS waiting list. Will get biopsy results within 7 days and hopefully onto a treatment plan/further steps. Happy days so far, glad those needles are out the way 🥴 #travelchina #china #healthcare #nhs
In China, if a doctor suddenly gets really nice and cares about your feelings, you should worry, something’s probably wrong. If they act cold, it means you’re fine, go home, don’t waste their time for the next patient.

I don’t think doctors in the Uk have much of a bedside manner either so we might as well have the efficiency instead 😅

I feel like that brisk efficiency helps a lot of people feel that they're in good hands. Instead of the "hey how are you" camaraderie, I personally feel like I would prefer someone who's so competent and experienced at their job that it's almost like automated nature

Not sure where you lived in the UK. The Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham is like this. Take a ticket for blood test and people doing it all day every day. I’ve had multiple cameras both ways with and without sedation (never do it without sedation!) and I was only ever there 45-60 minutes without sedation and 1.5-2 hours with sedation. 🤷♂️

I think the personal touch costs UK the billions where in fact I’d prefer an efficient service better,

You could literally set up a company that helps people travel to China for medical health care. I’d be nervous but I’ll having someone like you guide me through the process and help set up appointments would be reassuring.

in the NHS they didn’t offer sedation, no information, left me waiting until 3pm couldn’t drink water for hours and hours… I was put a spray on my throat and they put the camera…. then was told to leave after 30 minutes and was still feeling anxious by the whole experience… barely any time to recover.

Yeah I totally agreed with you, I dislike chitchat during medical checks, talking to much nonsense don’t get job done. Heaps people waiting outside to get to see doctor and inside was asking how’s your family balabalbal
the main point is in china people just want to get things done fast and cheap, while in UK and US people want luxury, not necessarily better quality though. that's why china's medicare is 50 times more affordable.

God that's amazing. You're so right, you just need the efficiency. I followed a Dr on here who did a work placement in China and she said because the population is so huge there the drs see an enormous span of diseases, including very rare things, so you end up with a much more experienced specialist than you get in the UK etc. Fingers crossed for helpful results ❤️

I could be wrong i think your on about 'the bedside manner' that healthcare professionals have in the uk, as we have the 'hello my name is' policy then all the gaining of consent, checking they know what theyre consenting to. whereas I feel maybe in China if your turning up for the appointment to have something done, that is the consent?
