There are subtle hints. Watch their face when you’re just being your normal kind self. Without you doing anything at all, you can sometimes see a flash of contemptuous glare “leak out”. Thats your cue thatvthis person actually hates you, and is struggling to keep up the facade.

Sometimes we see the red flags at the beginning but the hope we have for the person blinds us. A lot of us have seriously studied and educated ourselves on what to look for and plus our own personal experience with them, and this helps us even when we hope the best for the relationship, our discernment helps us see reality after a little time has went by, but when their mask slips that's our confirmation that we were right in the beginning when we chose to ignore the red flags.

Yes you think of them as normal which empowers the narcissist as the relationship deepens. And worse yet, many times the narcissist is someone you love and are concerned about. That also makes it so difficult to deal with them.

Why do I feel connected to him even though he's moved on and we're in no contact. He was in a relationship before we parted ways. I have moved on but, seems like he's pulling at my energy or something. It's unsettling to my nervous system. We never had closure for real, it's almost like the door is still cracked open or something. I am ready to be over this feeling 😩
