@deep_end_fitness: When diving to deep depths in a pool or body of water, your body will undergo a change in pressure. One of the most common symptoms of this is popping ears, which can cause discomfort and in severe cases, damage to your ear canal. If you’ve ever struggled with this, the Valsalva maneuver is one of the ways you can help mitigate these symptoms. 1. Slightly Pinch Your Nose 2. Slightly Blow (Like You Would Into A Tissue) This will ensure that your ear canals repressurize and should help alleviate any symptoms of the pressure change momentarily. The key is to make sure you do this EARLY and OFTEN. We suggest performing the Valsalva maneuver every 3 feet, until you reach depth. This maneuver is essential for Deep End Fitness since we often train in deep pools and perform movements at depth. As always, train safe with a buddy. And don’t forget, different pools and diving institutions have their own protocols, use this video as a general guide but always defer to the protocols of wherever you are training at.#valsalvamanuever #diving #freediving #swimming #deependfitness
