Hm. Is politeness morality? It’s worth parsing that ethics are morals made action, so politeness and following social niceties would be more ethics than morals. It seems like you’re addressing the ACTIONS we take more than the intent of those actions, sort of erasing the context of the actions. If you’re being nice and polite to a child in order to lure them into assaulting and killing them, you were at no point being moral. You frame morals in this really odd way wherein morals are this…item that we utilize? But that’s not what morals are. Morality just means to be in attendance to a given goal regarding the well being of other conscious beings. You can’t BE moral if you’re not doing what morality means. I think this talk works REALLY well as a write up on false facades and masks people who hold an ideology of evil wear, but I don’t think it works to try and position morality as some kind of an item or tool that’s being misused. That’s impossible. That would be like misusing love to do harm to the person you love. It falls into incoherency. You can’t do a moral thing with the intent to harm someone for the sake of harming them.

politeness isn't morality. these movies aren't "are u my enemy even though u are polite", they are "you are weaponzing politeness to enact violence" how politeness is used to gaslight victims. If the appropriate response to danger (fight, flight) is deemed impolite, and one responds to danger appropriately physiologically (save freeze, because that is what they want) then you are not being polite or rational and so control over you is justified(I was gonna do it anyway, but now I'm mad I have to work at it) marginalized groups have been saying this forever, they ARE at risk for not adhering to politeness.

This Machiavellian approach to morality is only true if your morality is derived inward and not outward. Every one knows the rules of the game, man’s ability to transcend them separates them from beast. Morality and justification is always relative/subjective, but to reflect on your belief and reasoning is what separates us from the rest of nature. However, accepting morality is subjective and where you personally draw the line is arbitrary, is the first step.

Hello, Navajo person here. Diné doesn't mean people in the sense of othering. It means it like "folks". Anyone can be called Diné but when talking about others we're more descriptive. Nakaii (wondering) means those that wonder, and Eilichii'ii (Red Shirted) references older Russian preferences, Zhinii (of the black clan). Notice how they all end in ii? Well that's because they're shortened from being Nakaii Diné (wandering people), Eilichii'ii Diné (red shirted people), and Zhinii Diné (black clan people). Because we're all people.

I live in a suburban neighborhood that is directly next to the living breathing center of the town, and I am the only one who walks out in public other than teenagers. Adults will literally drive in their cars to their mailboxes instead of walking the 30 feet it takes them to get there. People won’t look me in the eye in the daytime when I say hello it is absolutely insane.
