A2, the hardest thing for me is pronunciation. I've heard people say there's a Russian learner accent that sounds like you're talking with a mouthful of mashed potatoes and that's true I have it

I am learning Russian! I use Pimsleur and Duolingo and some other random stuff sometimes. I struggle with word forms… there are so so many and it demotivates me a little bit. There’s gonna be some kids in my church that don’t speak much english and I want them to feel welcomed to our youth group. I also just love learning Russian and was practicing a tiny bit before.

For me the alphabet was straight forward and easy. Learning the works and pronunciation was not too difficult. I already pronounce English sounds in a similar manner as Russian sounds so that’s not so hard. The hard part is the grammar. Going from the crazy grammar of English to equally difficult Russian is mind bending.

I am just starting and I think for me I don’t really know the best way to go about it. Like I know it takes time but how do I learn vocab and grammar and reading versus speaking

Yes, I’m conversational in Macedonian so the vocab is familiar… but the grammar is still completely different. I’m using podcasts and children’s cartoons to study!

I am currently using Duolingo (don’t judge) and as many TikTok pages as I can find to learn Russian. It is a beautiful language. I can converse at a minimal level at best. The most difficult is finding other people who speak it regularly to keep me sharp.

I've been using Duolingo for about 6 month. I think it's going ok, I'm not sure how to gauge how far along I am, but I feel I still have a long way to go. In the past, I have also studied Spanish and Japanese and I think they might have spoiled me a little because of how phonetic they are. I am somewhat thrown off by when some letters make different sounds in different contexts. I am also still very confused by the the variations of word endings.

Yes I’m learning with a tutor for A1. For me the verb conjugation rules are difficult as there are many rules. Yes please post some vids of you speaking down basic sentences and maybe explaining the rules.
