Lifelong Mainer and 100% agree! While the coast is beautiful (when it's not overrun during tourist season!) I'll take the mountains of Western Maine and the beauty of all the hidden dirt roads in Northern Maine

Yeah the coast of Maine isn’t overrated. This was on the dock in front of my house a couple months ago overlooking Acadia. Never seen anything like it. Inland Maine is also amazing, but the coast is insane.

Well, inland Maine is definitely underrated, there is absolutely nothing overrated about the bold coast of Maine. Maine in general is a place that those of us who live here are very lucky to enjoy the natural beauty of, regardless of the geographical area. I think it’s very silly that these comparisons exist when this is a state we should all be proud to call home . Also, as someone who lives in coastal Maine, I can guarantee that most of us would appreciate if the coast of Maine was a little more underrated, particularly during tour season , and I’m pretty confident many in inland Maine would like to keep it from becoming overrated.

The coast is not over-rated, but inland is amazing too! Both can be great at the same time. The small town lobster spot is never old.
