first one isnt correct! radiation cant do that immediately, it takes a few days for the skin to start falling off, though the firefighters did receive the highest dosage out of anyone else. im pretty sure the forest floor is thicker (if youre talking about the red forest) because of all the soil dumped there, but in other places the first few inches of soil were cleared to get rid of lingering radiation in the soil. Also they didn‘t bulldoze the red forest, it‘s still there BUT its home to a lot of the radioactive junk they had to dump

dude. the documentary that shows video of the nearby towns evacuating, and you can hear all the dogs barking because the people were told they would only be gone for a day or two, so most people were forced to leave their pets behind. breaks my fucking heart every time i think about it

FUN FACT!!!!! Workers would actually see a black bird with red eyes days leading up to the Chernobyl incident. From what I remember I think people saw the bird the night of the incident. After the incident the bird was never seen again. It was known as the black bird of chernobyl. Second fact. Whats really weird to me was the accident happening on 1:23:45am

Actually fun fact: you can technically adopt the dogs that are at Chernobyl. There’s an organization dedicated to spaying, neutering, and providing other forms of medical care for them as well as food and water. They’re absolutely gorgeous dogs too!
