When Nekhidia
When Nekhidia "Nikki" Harris was born in 1994, doctors gave her parents devastating news: they believed she might survive only three days. She had serious medical challenges, including unusually brittle bones, and her family was later told she might never walk or write. But three days passed. Then months. Then years. Growing up, Nekhidia went through numerous surgeries and dozens of fractures. She remained under three feet tall, but her family encouraged her to focus less on her size and more on what she could do. One piece of advice from her father stayed with her: "Use my brain as my height." Education became a huge part of that journey. In 2015, she graduated from Kingsborough Community College and continued her studies at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn. Then, on June 5, 2019, at 24 years old, Nekhidia crossed the stage at Barclays Center and graduated with honors, earning her bachelor's degree in social work. After the sleepless nights and all-nighters, she summed up the moment simply: "It feels really good." And she wasn't finished. Nekhidia planned to pursue a master's degree in social work at York College. She had also co-founded the Harris Family Vision Foundation with her sister, Kimberly-an organization involved in scholarships, school supplies, health initiatives and assistance for communities in need. Doctors once measured her future in days. Nekhidia kept adding years-and filling them with achievements no early prognosis could have predicted. #vibedistrictclips #breakingnews #viralnews #worldnews #fyp
