a prime number is just the first "multiple" of that number. so 2 isn't unique in that respect--we just happen to have a name for multiples of 2, and they're frequent (because it's 2)

makes sense when you realize 3 and 2 create a very small window for where prime can appear (2 being a gap of 1 before it is divisible by 2 and 3 being a gap of two before it is divisible by 3)

Every print above 3 is odd, which means both its neighbors are multiple of 2. Every third number, by definition, is a multiple of 3. Primes above 3 can't be multiples of 3, so exactly one of its neighbors must be a mult of both 2 and 3. So, 6.

There are only 3 odd numbers between two multiples of 6: n+1, n+3, n+5, and n+3 is divisible by 3 because n is a multiple is 6.

That’s basically the same thing as saying no prime number has a factor of 2 or 3. It narrows the field down a bit but not by much as the numbers get large
