For you rug if you scrub it with the first cleaning product and then go over it with the second product that might make it go down ( it has work with stains that I have had) plus it might also work for the paint on the sofa

your house doesn't have to be 100% 'finished' to live in and feel like home and invite people round etc. don't stress yourself with deadlines... I bought my house and moved in in February... I just accepted that renovation would take several years (I don't have as much time to work on it) but even when it's 'finished' more stuff will crop up. don't let perfection be a barrier.

As a rule of thumb, if you think "yeaaaah, there's no chance I'll get paint on that", you will get paint on that. 😂

I had the same problem with my rug, many times! White spirit! put some plastic on the floor for protection, then old towel and then carpet where the stain is and soak it in white spirit. put another rug on top..Smells horrible but helps! Just test it first small bit just to be sure it doesn't damage the carpet! most carpets are fine though
