I used to speak to the mourning doves because they were the easiest to mimic. They would always chirp back and I would feel so special and connected. I love these birds

my grandfather owned a mourning dove. his name was Thursday, and every time I'd come over we could hear his singing through the vents. Thursday was probably in his thirties, but they didn't have concrete documentation so it's difficult to say. Thursday died in 2020 I believe. my grandfather passed recently, but as we were going through his things I was reminded of him. the entire basement is covered with birdseed, it always was. my grandfather didn't exactly know how to properly care for birds, but he still loved that bird dearly. I hope they've reunited in whatever place comes after death.

Every morning me and my sister would hear this bird. I told her “If you hear this bird, that means we can play outside” and we did ‘rule’ for years.

I’m glad I still get to hear them…, even on days when I wake up and don’t feel like getting up. Strangely, it’s like hearing them changes my mood and I choose to believe that the day will be better

I remember as a kid I used to feed the doves outside I remember one died I found it in the road and I carried it all the way to the hospital nearby cried to the front desk lady obviously they have no clue how to help a dead bird but she said she didn’t have the heart to deny me so she took him to the back I sat in the waiting room for two hours my mom came and found me since she seen me walking and she explained to me that day what death was told me how he was more at rest in death then he would’ve been suffering while alive I still think of piupiu
