@prodbyjohnhernandez: How to spread instruments? How to make your song wide? Stereo width? I got you!! Don’t rely on spreading everything, make stuff sound mono and don’t hard pan everything! #producertips #musicproduction #mixingtips #audioengineer #prodbyjohnhernandez
If everything is in stereo, nothing is in stereo 📝

is there a way to make a lead vocal wider without dubbing? Want to record myself singing and playing piano for a video. feel like vocal is "thin". don't want to add too much to the vocal cause still want it to "feel" natural.

I do parallel monoing ALLLLLLLL the time! absolutely saves your mix if it gets dumped to mono on social media or something 💯

when you mentioned about the stereo signals disappearing when you switch to mono,I noticed that happened with Taylor swift songs when I was analysing the mix,the pads completely vanished and her vocal just jumped out,I was surprised that professional engineers actually did that without considering how it would sound in mono

Sometimes I get stuck trying to get the lead vocals to stand out. It sometimes gets buried. It’s a pain in the neck for me!

When you were still learning mixing, did you read books like the Mixing Engineer’s Handbook? If yes, would you recommend reading books for learning mixing?

One thing I learned as well if you use a compressor that’s not stereo on your instrumental it compress it to mono so everything sounds small but leveled that’s where I was messing up for the longest

This is why when I mix in my daw I don’t use stereo I use surround panning plus additional imaging spread in the master. Makes all the difference
