The birds making noise in the trees along Orchard Road are primarily the Asian Glossy Starling (Burung Perling Mata Merah in Malay) and the Javan Myna. This phenomenon is well-known and often referred to as the "Singing Trees" of Orchard Road. Why are they noisy? Roosting: The birds gather in large flocks in the trees during the evening to roost (sleep for the night), especially when it is not raining. Communication: The cacophony of chirping is a form of communication as they settle in, find their spots, and interact with the hundreds (or thousands) of other birds present.

Yea that singular street is crazy.. I walked by with my wife recently and it was sooooo loud.. we searched the reviews section for the hotel there about the noise but there were none lol looks like they were deleting them cause there’s no way u can’t hear that from inside your room

My late dad used to tell me this.. "See, even the birds know when to come home." cos they'll all be flying back to this tree at the same timing! I'm guessing they're all talking to each other about their day or the new food spot..😂

back in late 2010s when i came to orchard road with my siblings, i got a sort of culture shock bc of those birds 🤣 i'm saying this as a singaporean too lmao. i rarely go to town area at the time so hearing that for over 30 mins while waiting for the bus to go home was a little scary for me 🤣
