A single twist really has no affect, but multiple twist can reduce the strap up to 25% not 50

The strap's not meant to hold the weight of the item you're hauling it's meant to hold it still

Yeah except a vehicle going 60 miles an hour coming to a sudden stop is extremely different then a slowly applied force. Most accidents inflict about 8’g of force on the car and it’s occupants

the twist doesn't affect it until it's twisted so tight its basically a knot.

This is the same reason your car antenna has a spiral so the vortex shedding from the wind is redirected and keeps it from moving side to side

1-2 twist don’t make a difference these test have been done thousands of times it takes about a dozen twist till it starts to make a harmful difference

My rule of thumb was if I’m securing something solid, steel, lumber, something like that. I’m not twisting the strap and synching the hell out of it. Something like insulation or something that I can’t synch like that, I’ll twist the straps.

As a 30+ year driver, I can tell you FOR FACT that putting a twist in a load strap STOPS strap fraying and it TENSILE STRENGHT doesn't change.

a half twist does not lower the working load limit

Have been flatbeding for over a decade. Doing a twist on an open flatbed helps a lot especially holding down odd shape loads. The wind will loosen those straps that are flapping in the wind.

You only need to put one twist in it and all that does is stop the strap from vibrating and making noise high hall flatbeds all the time and been pulled over by DOT never got no tickets for a twisted strap like that
