@sapphael: Me on my quest to try to find out if there was an analog to Heated Rivalry and Fujoshing Out in medieval Europe, and instead finding some insane discourse about the introduction of Polyphony. Shoutout to “Music, Body, and Desire in Medieval Culture” by Bruce Holsinger, the book I was reading for this. Also shoutout to my little sister, she has a music composition degree and I called her to ask her to explain Polyphony to me slowly like I’m 5 years old. #History #medievaltiktok #religion #music #gay

they felt pleasure listening to music for the first time instead of the endless despair of the original sin and they freaked out about it🤣
