I agree with Bluth's words and did even as a kid. I wanted stories that were mature and didn't treat me like I was stupid as a kid. which is why my fave films are his and not Disney's (even though a lot of Disney are my top 10, Secret of NIHM, The Land Before Time and Anastasia are some of my very favourite.)I love animators who treat kids as human beings that can tackle big issues and stories.

I had assumed I was just a sensitive kid so I still put it on for my 7 n 9 yr old. Both balled n hung onto me like I was literally ☠️😳 They were traumatized for weeks. To know it could have been worse is crazy😭

I tried to show this movie to my kids over the summer. I cried so hard in the first 15 minutes that I fell asleep. I woke up at the end and my kids were gone

I still tear up when I hear the theme song. I was emotionally traumatized by that movie as a child. I can’t imagine it being even more sad.
