As the child of immigrants and someone who has also served, I completely agree with this perspective. My father came here from Peru, served the U.S. Army for 30 years, and did things legally.My perspective is this: if people think they will be treated better or more fairly in other countries, they need to know that the corruption is completely out of control.When I was stationed in Colombia, I personally witnessed people who bragged about coming to the U.S. just to have their babies here. They would then boast about how their U.S.-born child would receive money through financial aid and welfare, and they would send them back to the U.S. for college. This type of exploitation of our system needs to be addressed.
