Anytime I'm working on electrical for my own car, I actually break off a small piece of solder, and put it in the middle of a crimp connector. Then I crimp the wires together, and as I heat the shrink, the solder melts into the connections. Stole the idea from my grandpa, who had a small box of these in his toolbox a few years back.

Someone once told me that crimps > solder. I asked why and they told me “what on a car that is not inside a computer is soldered together by the manufacturer” and I can’t figure it out

I will say using a butane torch is a lot more useful than a regular lighter .

Yeah I’m ngl I’ve tried these and they’re kinda crap. If it’s anything bigger than like 18 gauge the solder won’t flow into the wire before the insulation melts off. I’m just gonna stick to butt connectors or just soldering where I can
