We practiced sending to Place + holding position with e-collar conditioning while adding natural outdoor distractions—horses, movement around the farm, and even my Platoon Sergeant, who graciously volunteered as today’s tribute. 😂 One of Huxley’s biggest reasons for being here is his discomfort and reactivity around unfamiliar men. The goal isn’t to make Huxley love every man he meets. The goal is neutrality. He can see a man. He can exist around a man. He can stay in position. And he can choose appropriate behavior instead of reacting. Today, Place gave Huxley a clear job while we worked through that discomfort—and every successful repetition helps build a dog who can make better choices even when he doesn’t necessarily like the situation.
